This often happens in internet comment threads too, especially when a hot topic comes around. For instance on HN, I've seen this happen with Copilot, Stable Diffusion, and other AI copyright debates, even though no one is a copyright lawyer in the comments; CoViD, even though no one is an epidemiologist, virologist, or vaccine researcher; et cetera.
