Have you had any success raising capital at all?

The most reliable and consistent thing I've used has been xRDP. It's a hassle to configure on some systems and others It works out of the box.

For me the performance is quite well.

As far as bandwidth goes, I usually just tunnel over SSH to decrease bandwidth.

Does it happen with anything besides how? So when you post something like "How to bake a potato", does it translate to "To bake a potato"?

It does this with numbers too. This is a fairly recent change fwiw.

This exact thing happened to me, except I accessed a network drive linking to some juicy information. The school expelled me and the state went after me. I ended up getting a misdemeanor expunged!

How much data is one limited to?

That thought did come to my mind. It may not be too late. I wonder if Foodcoin is a thing?

Edit:

Now that I think about it, you're definitely on to something. Foodcoin is a thing... but then again takeout for pets will be too :D

Nope. Wild right?

It really looks like one..

1. Theres zero information on that page. You never even hint at what is deficient in normal dog food, or what is the benefit of your proposed food, or even what it is. Instead there is a profusion of upbeat yet wholly insubstantial buzzwords and phrases.

2. A very large proportion of the text is in bold for emphasis, giving it that humorous 'crazy person' look.

3. The very concept seems like a parody of the ridiculous 'Juicero'-like silicon valley startup. A proposal that could only be taken seriously in that bizarre, rarefied, and plutocratic environment.

Honestly it ticks all the boxes for a parody. It wouldnt seem out of place on 'clickhole' or 'something awful'

ps. I'm not trying to shit on your idea at all. I genuinely thought it was a parody and the above points explain how I got that impression.

You should have seen it when I first created the campaign. I wasn't going for a parody look but I am trying to go for a more "less-serious and goofy" approach. I do realize that I'm using too much bold emphasis. I'm not fully sure why.

On a more serious note, your advice is definitely useful to me. I am going to try to brush up on the delivery and make it look less like a parody.

This is also the first time I'm hearing of Juicero. Definitely rough happenings.

I am not experienced with startups and funding. I am experienced in 'selling' my ideas to clients or executives. So I dunno if this advice is relevant or not to your situation. Its certainly relevant to general principles of clarity and communication, which, hopefully, is relevant in most fields, even silicon valley startups.

To improve your landing page I would..

immediately establish the following points as tersely and clearly as possible, ie If you can do one of them with 4 words great!.

1. Whats wrong with conventional dog food

2. Whats your better idea

and then, smaller, slightly more detailed points..

3. Very briefly whats your plan to make this happen.

4. What do you need to carry out this plan

I would also, eliminate any cruft that isnt really saying anything that isnt necessary eg. this whole paragraph

" How am I going to do it? I'm going to use my software engineering and entrepreneurial experience. My technical experience goes pretty deep, well beyond just a software engineer. I can do things with a computer not even I understand. This gives me an edge over a lot of things. When I want to learn something I just do it. So here I am. "

You dont need to say "hey I'm a good software guy".

If you propose this idea well, readers will assume youre capable of carrying it out. No-one will ever state the negative of that eg. "I'm a really bad unreliable lazy worker and I dont care about this" so you dont need to state the positive.

Also dont say youre good and enthusiastic, show them with a clear impressive presentation.

Overall imo the site is too conversational while also being too light on actual information, its like youre waffling.

Additionally. Cus this is for pets, theres certainly room for some charm. Eg. cute doggo pic will melt most peoples hearts even if they dont realise it. But I would make something functional and bare 1st. then add the charm to it.

That brought tears to my eyes. Ever since I can remember I've felt deep inside me that it is my duty to help others and do everything I can in me to make change in this world. That I must show others the same. Sometimes this can feel like more weight on my shoulders than I bargained for. Sometimes it helps rise me up and reminds me to always keep moving forward. I can't help to ask myself though, is this just something software developers have inside them? For myself I understood this pretty well, but I can't help to maybe think this isn't just software developers that have this everlasting feeling to serve man.

It's called faith. Faith that tomorrow will be a better day. Faith is hard work.

People aren't taught well what it is, how to produce it and how to hang on to it when it's most needed.

Doesn't matter which geography/culture/religion you are from, understanding how faith is generated in self and in others/what it takes to preserve it under stress is fundamental to doing the hard stuff.

> People aren't taught well what it is, how to produce it and how to hang on to it when it's most needed.

I don't know about you but I don't see many signs of unselfish faith anywhere these days, at all. I think where I get hung up on what exactly faith is, is somewhere around when someone says it's some "something" that can be summoned, and when I look it up on wikipedia it's something produced on demand by enlightened individuals who catch on at some point.

There's one problem that's been fairly rampant in America for over a century: no one is enlightened anymore, and no one can give any convincing reason that their vision of faith, or just simply what got them through the hard times, is useful to you. Is today's world anything like what the people who built it intended when they set out a few decades ago? Are their sources of faith still useful, and if they're not, well then who's selling the faith fodder these days?

i.e. if faith is what everyone needs, then you have to look first at why it's fallen out of favor to the point where it needs a sales pitch. Why people give a shit about more things than ever before, and why none of them involve the fundamental component to doing the hard stuff: a good reason why.

You have to see it in the fact that people try.

Jeff Atwood did not have to write this article. The guy has an establised rep. Is working on a well known project. He does not have to say anything. He knows as soon as he opens his mouth, about an issue which no one has a great solution for, he is opening himself up to unneeded attack. But he does it anyway. That's what I see. That people like him are around. And they will try.

That's what gives me faith.

Faith does not guarantee happy endings or heroes and that is why it is hard. So think about faith. Again and again. About how to produce and sustain it.

People underestimate the value of doing that and develop misguided notions about rituals/imagery/narratives that have evolved in all people to produce faith. To tackle the hard stuff.

What is unselfish faith? Can you describe how do you perceive faith as a concept?

It's amazing how this made it to the front page of HN and I had no idea until now. I actually discovered this by googling a couple hours ago :)

There is a messaging saying "You need to update your browser's Java" which most likely means it is either disabled in the browser or just not installed.
